Project

When the World Stops Turning

<When the World Stops Turning> is an artistic project that explores and experiments with mourning, memorializing, remembering, and documenting death in the realm of art. The project evokes the pandemic, which actually stopped the world, but also serves as a metaphor for the great grief felt by those who have experienced the loss of a death. Curators and artists from South Korea and Singapore will examine various deaths in our time, including the pandemic, to share issues of human dignity and the process of healing for those left behind. The project consists of research visits to both countries, studio visits, online meetings, and presentations, and aims to realize one exhibition each in Korea and Singapore in the future. As it deals with the inherent human issue of death, the project aims to overcome the era of exclusion, hostility, and marginalization that has intensified since the pandemic and present an alternative future through extensive communication with audiences in both countries.
