Project

T for Time

Art Sonje Center is pursuing a mid-to-long-term collaboration project with the Singapore Art Museum, involving artist research and study, new production, and exhibition as a means to sustain exchanges with Korean-ASEAN art institutions. Ho Tzu Nyen's new work <T for Time> was planned based on the symposium <Critical Dictionary on Ho Tzu Nyen>, whichwas promoted as a planned support project by KOFICE (Korea International Exchange Foundation) in 2022

Active in the expadned field of art such as film, video, and theater, Ho Tzu Nyen has been producing critical visual languages that question the homogenous concept of Southeast Asia and reconstitute the stories of individuals and groups drifting in the process of decolonization and modernization. In the symposium, various philosophers, critics, and curators who collaborated with Ho Tzu Nyen gathered to discuss the significance of his work and how it contributed to producing contemporary discouse in the post-colonial era.

Based on this this, Art Sonje Center cooperated with the Singapore Art Museum to co-produce Ho Tzu Nyen's new film+installation <T for Time>. This work, dealing with various layers of time, is scheduled to be introduced at the Singapore Art Museum in November 2023 and at Ho Tzu Nyen's solo exhibition at Art Sonje Center in June 2024. Additionally, a catalogue featuring writings by curators from both institutions will be published in conjunction with the exhibition.
