[Production377], established in collaboration with multinational artists, continues to create modern works based on tradition and presenting them in Jeju and Europe. Through a work in which 'playing' becomes 'theater' rather than 'theater' as a space, we aim to create a theater of the present where actors and audiences can interact. The study of Asian ancient theater, traditional culture, and myths and legends serves as the most important core motivation and foundation for creation, which is nourishment for the development and production of art as healing and works that breathe with the audience through modern reinterpretation..

Partner organization

Agubg Dancing Center

Agung Dancing Center is an organization founded by dancer, choreographer, vocalist and artistic director Agung Gunawan. Agung Gunawan was professionally trained for many years under the mentorship of the legendary guru Bagong Kusudiharjo, R.M., and also trained under Ywandjono, R. Aj Sri Kadarjati and M. Miroto in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Based on this, we have constantly questioned and explored the universal characteristics of Javanese art and culture, exploring the changing boundaries between traditional, classical, and modern art. In addition, we aim for artistic expression derived from the wisdom and knowledge of ancient Javanese people that are still in use today, and based on that, we research and develop the direction of modern works..

Ask the Mask

We conduct a comparative study on the movements of Indonesian traditional dance drama Topeng and Korean mask dances, allowing artists and participants from both countries to experience them through workshops. The music that the dance and the action is based on Indonesian traditional music, Gamelan and janggu Korean percussion. Although the two countries' traditional arts  can look very different to the western eye, they have similarities that can be found within the larger confines of Asia. In fact, when we added gamelan music to a Korean mask dance video, the scene proceeded without any sense of incongruity. For this collaboration, continuous exchange, understanding, and cooperation between participating artists are essential. Based on the exchange of creative ideas through research and workshops, we plan to hold a small-scale showcase to check the results. Records and archives of this achievement are essential for continued  collaboration and exchange in the future. In addition, through this archive, we can persuade organizations and participants supporting cultural and artistic exchanges between the two countries to continue to show interest and support.
